As I hoped when Episode 2 of the MBC Korean drama premiered on Sunday, the official news is in and, yes, When the Phone Rings has climbed up the Netflix Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart with just two episodes out.
Not only climbed up it, but climbed more than halfway to the top, as it grabbed the #4 position on the chart.
According to the data via the world’s largest streaming platform, When the Phone Rings grabbed the #4 spot on the chart, just two days after premiering on Friday, due to being watched 3.3 million times.
And with 7.4 million hours viewed.
The Korean mystery thriller was in the Top 10 in 39 countries, including half of Asia (Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Bangladesh and Hong Kong), in Greece and Romania in Europe, Morocco and Nigeria in Africa, and Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil in the Americas.
With those kinds of numbers from just two episodes, I predict we will likely see When the Phone Rings continue to be on the Netflix chart when the next data is released next week.
When the Phone Rings stars Yoo Yeon Seok, Chae Soo Bin, Heo Nam Jun, and Jang Gyu Ri.
It premiered on MBC in South Korea on November 22nd, and ends its 12-episode run on December 28th.
Watch the first two episodes of the Korean drama on Netflix now.
