New MBC drama When the Phone Rings, Episode 1 kicked off the series last night to excellent ratings.
Ratings that were exceptionally good considering the K-drama was up against the incredibly popular The Fiery Priest 2 in the same time slot, which also hit the highest ratings of its run last night.
The nationwide rating for When the Phone Rings, Episode 1 was 5.5 percent of the audience share, while in Seoul it earned an almost identical 5.4 percent viewership.
Interestingly, the Korean thriller is also currently earning a very solid 8.4 out of 10 from the often-disgruntled people who use My Drama List (MAL), so it will be fun to see where that rating ends up by the time they’re done.
The Korean drama is also streaming on Netflix in some regions, so we will report back here on Leo Sigh on Tuesday as to whether or not it was able to hit that platform’s Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart.
