As an obsessive gamer, I watch a lot of videos of other gamers playing games on YouTube. And, as a PR and marketing professional, I’ve always been fascinated by the fact that most people don’t realize just how much money some of these gamers make. Millions of dollars a year, in some cases, just for playing games and uploading the videos of themselves playing them to YouTube.
So who are the Top 10 highest paid YouTube gamers?
While it’s difficult to be completely accurate, as these statistics change by the month, and because available figures do not include book and TV deals, brand deals and other promotions many gamers are involved in, there are still a few YouTube gamers who consistently end up in the Top 10. YouTubers who, with just rudimentary knowledge about gaming on YouTube, you can see quickly are some of the high earners.
And while the video I’m showcasing today does not include a couple of the YouTubers I know for a fact are making huge amounts of money playing games for YouTube (Yogscast Lewis and Simon, for instance, who beat most of the guys on this list, hands down), it is a good jumping off point if you would like a general idea of who are likely in the group of Top 10 highest paid gamers on YouTube.
Interestingly too, three of the Top 10 highest paid gamers on YouTube are Spanish speaking. Which tells you how big the Spanish speaking market in the video industry now is.
They include:
Willyrex at number 10 — a Spanish speaking YouTube gamer who makes between $1.7 million and $2.2 million a year.
StampyLonghead at number 8 is a British Minecrafter who makes around $2.5 to $3 million a year.
The incredibly popular Markiplier is at number 6, and specializes in funny videos. He is paid approximately $2.8 to $3.8 million a year.
VanossGaming is a Canadian gamer who, at number 5 makes $3.4 to $4.6 million annually.
and, of course, PewDiePie at number 1 who is the richest YouTuber gamer ever. PewDiePie not only the number 1 most-subscribed YouTube (not just gamer, but overall YouTuber), he is also earning $5 to $8 million a year.
Of course, being one of the Top 10 highest paid gamers on YouTube is not easy. It requires a lot of work and a huge amount of dedication to keep creating videos that fans enjoy.
But if these guys can do it (and, yes, sadly they are all men), there really is no reason that you cannot do it too.
