Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World? gets Kai character video, 2 new cast and visual

The upcoming sci-fi action anime Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World? got a nice dump of promotional material earlier today.

It includes a Kai character video, the announcement of two new cast members and their characters’ visuals, and a cool Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World? key visual.

The visual features protagonist Kai front and center drawing his weapon in a fight, while Rinne, Jeanne, Reiren, and Falin are seen behind him.

The Kai character video, which features voice actor Shouya Chiba (Akihiko in Wind Breaker), unfortunately doesn’t feature English subtitles, so your guess is as good as mine as to what’s going on.

It does show the anime’s beautiful art style, though, and hints at what is likely to be an emotional and high-drama show.

Kai’s character video, which you can watch below, is also one of five such videos. One of which will be released every week for the next four weeks.

We will update you here at Leo Sigh as they are released.

Along with the visual and the Kai character video, two new cast members were also announced.

The first is Lynn, who is known for voicing Ria in Farming Life in Another World, Sakura in I Want to Eat Your Pancreas and Atsushi in Bungo Stray Dogs, is voicing Farin.

She is joined by Hana Hishikawa, who voiced Chastille in An Archdemon’s Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride, Viola in The Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch, and Madoka in A Sign of Affection, is playing Reiren.

The  light novels Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World?

The upcoming anime is based on the light novels of the same name written by Kei Sazane and illustrated by neco.

The series has been very popular in Japan, with nine volumes out (the series is now complete), and with a manga spin-off that has spawned 11 volumes as of last month.

Unfortunately, a paperback edition is not available, but the digital version of the novels is being published on BOOKWALKER.

The anime adaptation of the light novel series is being directed by Tatsuma Minamikawa (Pon No Michi), with scripts written by Satoshi Sugisawa (Love After World Domination), and characters designed by Hiromi Kato (A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special).

Project No. 9 is in charge of anime production.

The Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World? plot looks like this:

A war between five races for supremacy on Earth is won by humanity, led by the hero Sid. Suddenly, history gets overwritten so that Sid never existed, leading to humanity losing and becoming subjugated by dragons and demons.

All of this is witnessed by a boy named Kai, who is mysteriously unaffected by the alterations.

In this new world, Kai finds that he never existed previously, so no one knows him. After meeting a mysterious girl named Rinne, Kai is inspired to become the hero himself and free humanity.

The anime series is scheduled to premiere in July, 2024 in Japan.
