The ongoing historical fantasy anime Yatagarasu: The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master, Episode 15 will not air on July 27th as originally scheduled.
Instead, the anime’s official website has announced Episode 15 of the anime, titled ‘The Girl Who Survived‘, will be delayed for three weeks as live coverage of the Olympic Games 2024 will be aired in its place instead.
That means Yatagarasu, Episode 15 will not air/stream on July 27th, August 3rd or August 10th either, but will instead air/stream on August 17th.
An odd decision as well considering the new Yatagarasu arc, which is based on the third novel in the Kin no Kirasu series, only kicked off last week with Episode 14.
As well as a sign of very bad planning considering the anime only just took three weeks off before it kicked off its second cour with Episode 14 on July 20th.
A cour that would have been better starting in mid-August once the Olympics has ended.
Yatagarasu details
The first episode of the Yatagarasu: The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master anime (aka Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai) premiered on April 6th, with 20 episodes of the fantasy anime currently planned.
It is being directed by Yoshiaki Kyougoku (Yuru Camp), with series composition from Yukiko Yamamuro, and Takushige Norita (Lagrange: The Flower of Rin-ne) designing the characters.
Studio Pierrot (Kingdom) is in charge of anime production.
The anime is streaming via Crunchyroll, with My Anime List explaining its complicated plot like this:
In the Kingdom of Yamauchi, people have the ability to transform into three-legged crows known as yatagarasu. While the men plot over daily governance, women compete for the hand of Wakamiya, the crown prince who was selected as the Kinu, the servant to the Mountain God. Four young women arrive at the court to join the competition, including one named Asebi.
While the kind and innocent Asebi sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the other women, the crown prince has to fight for his place in the clan. Despite being born both to a concubine and as a second son, the royal priests still chose Wakamiya to be the Kinu over his older brother.
This decision created a rift between the siblings while enraging Wakamiya’s stepmother in the process.
When Yukiya, one of the teenage sons of the village chief, is sent to the palace to become Wakamiya’s new attendant, the prince is not pleased in the slightest. However, Yukiya’s presence at the imperial courts is no mere coincidence.
