6 When Destiny Brings the Demon stills of Arthur Chen, Wang Ying Lu and others drop as C-drama releases Episode 6

Arthur Chen as Sima Jiao

Several When Destiny Brings the Demon stills have been released today via YOUKU’s Weibo account as the Chinese drama drops its 5th episode (6th episode for those viewers who are happy to pay extra).

The 6 stills feature main leads Arthur Chen (aka Chen Fei Yu) as Sima Jiao and Wang Ying Lu as Liao Ting Yan, along with Wang Yi Ting, Gao Han and several others.

The new When Destiny Brings the Demon stills are from Episode 5 as Sima Jiao decimates the evil sect leaders, destroys the mechanisms that have kept him captivate for 500 years, and is now with Liao Ting Yan living in a villa far away from where he was once held prisoner.

Zeng Li as Sima E

The stills also feature one of  Sima Jiao’s mother, Sima E, played by Zeng Li. (above)

The only actor, by the way, that I think was miscast for the scenes in Episode 5 of the C-drama when her character was young and marrying Sima Jiao’s father because, at age 48, she’s just too old to make those scenes seem authentic.

(Zeng Li is a superb actress but, at her mature age, the production committee should have cast another actress as Sima E’s younger self).

Gao Han as the now-human snake

Gao Han as the now-human snake is also featured in one of the stills. (above)

And I am thrilled to see the 29-year-old actor popping up in more and more C-dramas.

After all, while the just-ended The Princess’s Gambit turned out to be pretty terrible, his performance as Gong Zi Jing, the 3rd prince of Qi, was one of the standout decent performances.

Finally, we have Wang Yi Ting (below) as the mysterious Ye Ling, who has just taken over as head of her sect but who seems to be one of those characters that could be ultimately good or an absolute villain.

Time will tell.

When Destiny Brings the Demon has already hit 8000 on the YOUKU heat index, and we’re only on Day 2

Enjoy the just-released When Destiny Brings the Demon stills above and watch the first five episodes of the Chinese fantasy drama on YOUKU — or six episodes, if you’re willing to pay for YOUKU’s TVOD extra episode (I’m a cheapskate, so I’m not!).
