Ballad of Sword and Wine, Vol 3 cover art released – featuring Shen Zechuan and Xiao Chiye on horseback together

Publisher Seven Seas Entertainment has released the official Ballad of Sword and Wine, Volume 3 cover art.

The latest volume in the danmei series is due to come out on January 7th, 2025 so, while there is still a ways to go before the volume itself releases, at least we have truly beautiful cover art to keep us going until then.

The Ballad of Sword and Wine, Volume 3 cover art has both Shen Zechuan and Xiao Chiye on horseback — Xiao Chiye riding behind Shen Zechuan – with the horse galloping towards a destination we are not yet aware of.

It was created by artist St!

The synopsis for the third volume in the danmei series, which is also on the back of the novel’s cover, is also out.

It explains:

After a close call with a deadly epidemic and an attempt on the emperor’s life, the imperial court of Qudu is in turmoil. The emperor is determined to hold someone among the noble clans accountable, a desire Shen Zechuan and Xiao Chiye are prepared to use to their political advantage.

The chaos gives them another opportunity as well—a chance to investigate the suspected mastermind behind the fall of Zhongbo five years ago.

Yet as they delve deeper into the past, new dangers emerge in the present. For every move they make, their unseen adversary seems always a step ahead, driving them into a trap from which there is no way out.

As Shen Zechuan and Xiao Chiye’s lives grow more and more entwined, both find they are increasingly reliant on each other. But when Xiao Chiye extends a hand in their most desperate hour, will Shen Zechuan take it?

With a synopsis like that, fans of this superb danmei series will feel even more desperate to read Volume 3.

Something they can start to do when Ballad of Sword and Wine, Volume 3 by Tang Jiu Qing is published early in the new year.

Pre-order the danmei now via the usual retailers.

Until then, as an obsessed danmei reader myself, if you haven’t yet read the completed series Seven Seas has published, I can definitely recommend these:
