Upcoming MBC K-drama When the Phone Rings dropped new stills as the series is set to premiere in November.
All four stills do a great job of showing the disconnect between husband and wife Baek Sa Eon and Hong Hui Ju (played by Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin) who are currently in a marriage of convenience.
Even the two stills from the couple’s wedding, with Yoo Yeon Seok in a tux and Chae Soo Bin in a wedding dress, show the pair looking apprehensive about what is due to happen, rather than ecstatic as a typical bride and groom would normally appear.
Then again, as When the Phone Rings begins, Baek Sa Eon and Hong Hui Ju have been in a loveless marriage for three years now.
A marriage that is about to see some major upheaval that may just change that.
What is the plot of When the Phone Rings?
The new MBC drama follows Baek Sa Eon and Hong Hui Ju, who have been married for three years but barely see each other.
After all, a marriage of convenience doesn’t usually leave you feeling close.
Sa Eon is a presidential spokesman, the youngest in history, and a former news anchor, war correspondent and hostage negotiator. So, not a man without major talents.
Hui Ju, who suffered through a traumatic experience as a child, is mute, and due to this has a successful career as a sign language interpreter.
Sa Eon is from an extremely affluent family, while Hui Ju’s father owns a newspaper.

In other words, if you didn’t see the way they interact with each other, you would think “Here are two highly successful people who really must have it all”.
Things continue in this vein with the couple growing further and further apart, until Hui Ju is suddenly kidnapped by a mysterious individual.
