The final Halloween visual from The Apothecary Diaries’ characters is one of protagonist Maomao dressed up as Kyonshii — a demon who has risen from the depths of hell, and wanders the earth in search of the blood of both people and animals.
Maomao is wearing a long-sleeved Chinese-style dress and pants, with a wide-brimmed hat that has a traditional Chinese fulu affixed to it — a traditional Taoist magic symbol that is said to be able to summon deities, ward off spirits or attacks, or even grant wishes.
She also carries a paper lantern to light her way, as she jumps in the air looking mischievous.
The short teaser video of Maomao as a Kyonshii features voice actress Aoi Yuuki laughing, and cheekily commenting “You look delicious. Your blood smells so good”. (watch below)
Yep, that’s pretty much how you would imagine Maomao would dress up for Halloween, isn’t it?
Especially as she would probably use your blood for one of her strange medicinal cures!
Maomao’s Halloween visual follows on from Jinshi as an elegant nine-tailed fox, the visual of Gaoshun as a Chinese thunder god, and Lady Gyokuyo who dressed as the wife of the Bull Demon King Princess Iron Fan last week.
Maomao’s illustration is one of a number of beautiful illustrations of The Apothecary Diaries characters we have been getting since the first season of the hit anime series ended in March.
Its second season, by the way, is coming soon.
