Superbly animated Tomb of Fallen Gods trailer released
I’ll start this off by saying “Holy Shizzle”, fans of the Chinese donghua Tomb of Fallen Gods (aka Shen Mu) are going to be blown away when Season 3 eventually hits.
At least if the recently released Tomb of Fallen Gods, Season 3 trailer is anything to go by.
Because, in just 30 seconds, that trailer shows off some amazing animation, while it also appears protagonist Chen Nan has had an extensive make-over as, Ye Gods, he looks pretty.
The new Tomb of Fallen Gods, Season 3 comes soon after the donghua’s second season ended on February 1st and, while no information has been released about when it will premiere, it sure as hell appears it will be brilliant when it does.
That’s saying something too as, remember, the level of animation and the stunning character models from animation studio Wonder Cat Animation have been praised throughout the two seasons already released.
So, to say that Tomb of Fallen Gods, Season 3 may be even better makes the animated series definitely something to look forward to.
Then again, Wonder Cat are responsible for the long-running smash-hit series A Record of a Mortal’s Journey to Immortality, (which just hit 3.1 billion times viewed), as well as the recently-released Everything is Fine with the Emperor, so excellence from them is probably to be expected.
Tomb of Fallen Gods plot
YOUKU describes the plot of the martial arts action adventure donghua like this:
The story follows protagonist Chen Nan as he searches for his lover Yu Xi from ten thousand years ago and uncovers the secrets behind the demise of gods and demons.
This journey serves as a thread that unravels the vast tapestry of the six realms and the cosmic chessboard, weaving a legend filled with passion, grandeur, and tragic beauty.
It recounts countless tales of heroes and beauties, while also delving into explorations of human nature, society, life, and other profound themes.
Tomb of Fallen Gods release details
The first season of Tomb of Fallen Gods was animated by Wonder Cat and produced by YOUKU.
It premiered on July 21st, 2022 and ran through October 27th, 2022 for a total of 16 episodes. But it was then almost another two years before the 27-episode Season 2 premiered on August 10th, 2024 and aired through February 1st, 2025.
Let’s hope Season 3 doesn’t take as long, eh?

And, if you haven’t yet begun watching this really excellent martial arts series, oddly, it is not available on YOUKU’s streaming platform (at least not in North America).
You can, however, watch every episode of both seasons for free via one 11-hour-32-minute video from Vita Animation.
