New Tales of Herding Gods, Episode 22 trailer features Granny Si’s entire battle

You have got to love the absolute power of Tales of Herding Gods‘ Granny Si — in both her older skin, and her still young self.

That young self properly showed up on Tales of Herding Gods, Episode 21 last week as she arrived at the City Lord’s banquet, ostensibly with the goal of trying to find a worthy owner of the Demon Bible, which she currently possesses.

Of course, that wasn’t really Granny Si’s aim and, when that banquet descended into chaos after Mu’er killed the City Lord’s crazy son, she was soon being chased by the other sect leaders who had shown up in an attempt to grab what was rightfully hers.

But, Granny Si may be beautiful and look perfectly sweet at times but, when she joins in the fight, nothing about it is pretty.

Just look at this clip from Tales of Herding Gods, Episode 22 as Granny Si fights every other sect leader in the most ruthless way. Stitching their mouths shut with her red thread so they cannot chant, hurling metal tokens at the female sect leader until her face is a bloody mess and then her head blows off, and even stringing up the City Lord himself.

All proof that getting into a battle with Granny Si is lethal. Not for her, of course, but for you.

Sparkly Key does an amazing job animating Tales of Herding Gods‘ fights

It isn’t just the lethality of Granny Si, though, that makes these Tales of Herding Gods‘ battles so spectacular, it is also the superb animation and phenomenally beautiful art style that animation studio Sparkly Key has been known for since it was founded in 2005.

The way the Chinese studio’s character models flip, fly and zoom off into the sky, and then avoid other models coming right at them.

The way the tiniest detail – a shrug of a shoulder, a twitch of an eye, the fear on someone’s face as they know they’re done for under Granny Si’s attack — all of it is so nicely done, you often feel like you’re looking at real people in a huge fight.

All of this is beautifully done in Granny Si’s latest battle as she not only lays waste to every sect leader, but then transforms herself into the City Lord and heads off to make an even bigger mess when the Yankang Nation finally arrive.
