Season 6 of Kingdom anime arriving sooner than some fans expected
It has been just over a year since historical military anime series Kingdom, Season 5 ended its 13 episode run. And that means fans are now highly-anticipating its upcoming Season 6.
Thankfully, after today’s announcement, you will not have to wait much longer as we now know the Kingdom, Season 6 premiere date has been confirmed as being some time in October, 2025.
Sure, six months from now, but at least it’s happening this year, right?
Especially as, with the anime’s production history, some Japanese fans are expressing their surprise at “how fast” the latest season is dropping.
The sixth season of the hit anime will air on NHK General TV in Japan.
That premiere date was announced on the anime’s official X account today, along with a new visual of protagonist Xin with the tagline “The Inheritor of Qi Wang’s Spear”, and the comment:
The battle for the unification of China begins in earnest. Qin vs. Zhao, all-out war begins!
Meanwhile, on the official Kingdom website, the production team also commented:
In the sixth season, the battle with Zhao finally begins, and Qin develops its strategy with an allied force of three armies led by Jian Wang (Kenyuu Horiuchi), Kanki (Kentarou Itou), and Duanhe Yang (Mie Sonozaki).
In addition, the new generation of Xin (Masakazu Morita), Tian Meng (Hirofumi Nojima), and Ben Wang (Yoshimasa Hosoya) will also lead their own troops and participate in the battle as independent mobile troops, entrusted with important roles.
And in this sixth season, Xin finally takes to the battlefield with “Qi Wang’s spear.”
Kingdom anime release history
The Kingdom anime is adapted from the best-selling manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by mangaka Yasuhisa Hara.
The manga currently has more than 100 million copies in circulation around the world, making it one of the most popular series of all-time.
The first season of its long-running anime adaptation premiered way back in June, 2012, with its second season hitting in June, 2013.
It was then almost a full seven years later before the 26-episode Season 3 was released on April 6th, 2020, followed by Season 4 in April, 2022 and Season 5 on January 14th, 2024.
Kingdom, Season 6 production and premiere details
Now, Season 6 will premiere in October, 2025 with Kenichi Imaizumi back to direct, and with Noboru Takagi, writer of Seasons 3 thru 5, also in charge of series composition for Season 6.
Hisashi Abe, character designer of Seasons 3 thru 6, is also returning to design those spectacular characters.
And, as you might expect, the dynamic duo of prolific composers Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto will return to compose what will likely be yet another epic soundtrack. (Listen to their previous stunning work below)
