The Haunted Palace EP15 is #1 most-watched show for all of Friday as it heads into finale
I am not shocked that K-drama The Haunted Palace, Episode 15 aired last night on SBS in South Korea, and was the #1 most-watched show of any kind for all of Friday.
After all, the Yook Sung Jae, Kim Ji Yeon (aka Bona), and Kim Ji Hoon-led drama started out with a 9.2 percent of the nationwide audience on April 18th with its first episode, and has barely waivered since.
That’s why The Haunted Palace, Episode 15 grabbing 9.4 percent of the nationwide audience share, and 9.0 percent of the viewership in Seoul on Friday night was to be expected.
Now we just have to see how well it performs when its series finale drops later on tonight, don’t we?
Meanwhile, the Korean drama was also in the Top 10 on Netflix yesterday in six Asian countries — Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
Viewer comments before The Haunted Palace finale
Interestingly, a sizeable portion of international viewers are not really feeling the plot of The Haunted Palace at this point.
I dropped The Haunted Palace after Episode 6, so I can’t comment on if their opinions are solid or not, but most seem to be annoyed the K-drama was stretched out over 16 episodes, while so many of the events have become unbelievable.
Some are also not remotely in love with any of the leads anymore.
On MDL, for instance, comments after Episode 15 aired range from:
My blood is boiling.
Looks like this is another show where the leads will sink to their lowest points before hopefully they will triumph. In the final episode. To be honest, I don’t even care about the leads or the King anymore. I just want the eldest prince and the abalone face eunuch as well as the guards to survive.

When i first started this series, I thought for sure it would be a 10 for me. But now it’s looking like an 8 or less. I was rushing home to watch this. Now I have to make myself watch it. Smh
and
This drama really didn’t need 16 episodes. It was so good at the start, i was enjoying it so much and everything felt fresh. Now i feel like i have been watching this drama and paekgokgwi for 2 years lol
All I can say is, if those comments are true, I am glad I dropped it when I did as, even by the beginning of Episode 6, it felt draggy.
The series finale of The Haunted Palace airs later on tonight on SBS in South Korea, and on Netflix or Viki, depending on your region.
I will be back tomorrow to give you a round up of both its ratings and if international viewers who stuck with it are happy, or not, with how it ends.
Let’s see how it does, eh?
