The video introduces Ruri via black and white stills from the manga the anime is based on as we hear her talk about how much she loves beautiful stones, and how she is obsessed with learning more about them.

It then switches to in color footage from the anime, as we see Ruri discovering new gem stones embedded in the rocks she is digging, and loving how absolutely beautiful they look.

Introduction to Mineralogy (Ruri Rocks) anime production details

Ruri Rocks (Introduction to Mineralogy) is based on the hit manga series written and illustrated by Keiichirou Shibuya.

The first volume of its Japanese edition describes its plot like this:

The story follows Ruri, a high school girl who loves jewelry and accessories, and who dives into the world of mineral collecting, going to mountains, rivers, and caves.

In just the first volume, we are already introduced to many minerals, including quartz, garnet, pyrite, gold dust, and fluorite.

The anime is being animated by Studio Bind (Mushoku Tensei), and is due to premiere on July 6th on Crunchyroll.

Shingo Fujii (Onimai: I’m Now Your Sister!) is directing, with the incredibly prolific screenwriter Michiko Yokote (Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You and Call of the Night) providing the series composition, and Mayu Fujii (episode animation director for Mushoku Tensei) both designing the anime’s incredibly cute characters, and serving as animation director.
