Moonlit Reunion poster with Xu Kai and Tian Xi Wei drops – when does the C-drama premiere?

Tencent Video has dropped a new poster for upcoming supernatural fantasy drama Moonlit Reunion.

The poster features main leads Xu Kai who plays Taoist prodigy Mei Zhu Yu, and Tian Xi Wei as Wu Zhen, a woman from a rich and connected family but who prefers to dress as a man and frequent the city’s brothels.

In the Moonlit Reunion poster, the pair are featured in modern day dress.

It arrived with a message from Tencent commenting:

The “Mei Meng Cheng Zhen” duo is serving up sweetness non-stop—spinning, jumping, and melting hearts 💓!

Stay tuned for the breathtaking pure romance between the stoic celestial master Mei Zhuyu (@许凯soso) and the enchanting cat lord Wu Zhen (@田曦薇)!

The Moonlit Reunion supporting cast features Wang Jia Yi, Wu Jun Ting, Yi Da Qian and Fan Shi Ran, so it’s a solid one!

When is Moonlit Reunion releasing on Tencent?

No, we don’t have a release date for Moonlit Reunion yet, although rumor on Chinese social media has it possibly dropping on August 18th.

We do know, however, that it is a 39-episode drama (changed from 36 episodes to 39 in March, 2025), and that it was produced by both Tencent and Linmon Film.

Unfortunately, some Linmon Film productions don’t stream on WeTV, Tencent’s international streaming service, but instead have their broadcast licensing sold to Viki, and/or stream on Linmon Film’s own YouTube channel instead.

Considering that often means new episodes premiere later internationally than they do on Tencent in China, and the streaming quality isn’t always as high as it is on WeTV, let’s hope that’s not the case here, eh?
