The Immortal Ascension earns 3 million reservations – drops visual featuring Yang Yang as Han Li

In a surprise to nobody who knows how crazy popular the Chinese donghua ‘A Record of a Mortal’s Journey to Immortality has become, its live-action adaptation The Immortal Ascension has just surpassed 3 million reservations.

And we don’t even have a premiere date announced yet.

Of course, once the C-drama begins streaming, if it has been produced properly, I fully expect it to be the most-watched Chinese drama of 2025, and it’s cast to become mega stars.

Come on, the donghua has already exceeded 3.2 billion views, so if you believe its live adaptation won’t also be a enormous hit, I have shares in a Chinese animation studio to sell you.

The Immortal Ascension 3 million reservations celebratory visual

The celebratory visual for The Immortal Ascension surpassing 3 million reservations features star Yang Yang (The King’s Avatar), who is playing protagonist Han Li, one of the most iconic donghua characters in Chinese animation history.

Yang Yang talks about playing Han Li in the upcoming C-drama The Immortal Ascension

From the photos and videos I have seen so far, I’d say the 33-year-old Chinese actor is a great choice to portray Han Li as he has the bearing and the maturity that role requires.
