Beyond the Bar Ep 1 premieres to solid ratings – international viewers positive so far
The JTBC law-themed drama Beyond the Bar, Episode 1 aired last night to solid ratings. Especially as it premiered on an already drama-heavy evening.
According to Nielsen Korea, Beyond the Bar, Episode 1 earned 3.70 percent of the nationwide audience, and a higher 3.96 percent of TV audiences in Seoul.
Both are excellent ratings considering the JTBC drama overlaps the air time of MBC drama Mary Kills People, which actually saw a ratings drop last night.

International ratings are also excellent after Episode 1, with My Drama List users currently rating the drama a high (for that site) 8.2 out of 10, while commenting:
I haven’t watched the male lead in anything and his line delivery when he said “I don’t miss you” was so well done imo!
Can’t wait to watch the rest because I’m so intrigued, it already started off good then they added another layer towards the end,

I didn’t expect to enjoy this drama, since I’m usually not a fan of stories centered around law and justice. But the first episode really surprised me and actually met my expectations. The female lead is absolutely everything strong, determined, and never backs down.
I also liked Yun Seok Hunt. He has this cold demeanor, but he seems warm on the inside. It’s clear that he recognizes Kang Hyo Min’s potential, but with his big ego, it might take a while before he says something like “good job.” I’m definitely looking forward to that moment.
(Note: 29 users of IMDB are currently rating Beyond the Bar a low 7.5 out of 10 which, until more people rate it, that rating is not really worth talking about).

It airs on JTBC on Saturday and Sunday evenings, with Netflix streaming the K-drama internationally.
