That Southern Emperor and Northern Beggar poster (called ‘the alternate version’ poster) heralds the follow-on of the story that started in Nine Yin True Sutra on July 26th.
It then continued in the second drama in the series – Eastern Heretic and Western Venom — which premiered on July 31st on Tencent Video/WeTV.
Now, with Southern Emperor and Northern Beggar telling the story of Hong Qi Gong (played by Ming Dao) and Duan Zhi Xing (Peter Ho), once this drops, we are only the fourth part away from the prequel’s ending.

The runaway Dali prince Duan Zhi Xing (played by Peter Ho) and the Beggar Sect disciple Hong Qi Gong (Ming Dao) hit it off immediately.
