The Wanted Detective billboards displayed at Dawang Lu subway station in Beijing
The production committee for the ongoing mystery-themed C-drama The Wanted Detective has not only been releasing some stunning posters and character visuals for the iQIYI drama, but they have also created a gorgeous set of billboards that are currently being displayed at the Dawang Lu subway station in Beijing.
The enormous The Wanted Detective billboards feature visuals of all the drama’s main actors, and are so large and displayed in such an extensive area of the subway station, they are likely to attract a lot of attention.
They are in addition to the previously released billboards at the Guangzhou Zhujiang New Town Metro Station.
iQIYI uploaded photographs of the billboards to their Weibo account earlier today, with the message:
“#The Wanted Detective# Breaking news!
The legendary ‘Godly Arrest Squad – BoBo Team’ has been spotted at Dawang Lu Subway Station in Beijing!
Hurry and join Xiao Bei Ming (aka Wang Xing Yue), Zhong Xue Man (Julia Xiang), Feng Qing Zhuo (Chen You Wei), Huo Dai Rong (Zhang Nan), Tong Shuang (He Luo Luo), and Zhuge Kongyun (Deng Kai) for a chance encounter~
Tune in daily at 18:00 on iQIYI to watch the BoBo Team crack every case! #Calming Waves#” (alternate title).
Yep, when it comes to promoting a TV series, you don’t get visuals much better than this, do you?
The historical mystery-themed drama itself stars Wang Xing Yue and Julia Xiang, and premiered on iQIYI on August 1st, with 12 episodes of the 36-episode drama already released.
The Wanted Detective is a drama that has received a fair bit of attention internationally, but is currently being rated lower than it should be on sites like My Drama List due to the female lead, Zhong Xue Man, played by Julia Xiang, being one of the most annoying and poorly-written women in Chinese dramas this year.
A shame for Xiang, who is doing the best she can with the part, and a shame for the drama as it is being rated lower due to people desperately hoping the quite stupid Zhong Xue Man will see some character development, but she hasn’t so far.
The Wanted Detective exceeds 8000 on the iQIYI heat index
Should subsequent episodes feature the female lead not spending her time abusing poor Xiao Bei Ming, and deciding to make better decisions rather than the rash ones she currently acts on that make little sense, I have a feeling the rating would probably climb.
The drama itself is nicely acted by the rest of the cast, the writing except for the female lead, is solid, the cases are interesting, and the cinematography is beautifully done.
Fingers crossed then we will see improvement in the writing from here, as I would hate to see people rate it poorly or drop it entirely due to just one character.
Also, do notice how incredibly clean the subway system is in Beijing compared to the often little better than cesspools we have to put up with here in America.
