This Thriving Land character visuals drop for Ou Hao, Yang Mi, Xing Fei, Patrick Zhang and rest of cast
While upcoming village life-themed drama This Thriving Land (生万物) does not as yet have a premiere date on iQIYI, the Chinese streaming platform has released a massive number of character visuals to promote the series today.
In other words, as promo pieces are now being dropped, and as the drama finished filming last August, it’s looking very much like we might be getting This Thriving Land streaming on iQIYI soon. Fingers crossed.
Those This Thriving Land character visuals cover just about every important character in the Chinese drama, right down from male lead Ou Hao‘s Du Chun Lin, to Patrick Zhang‘s Guo Gui Yao and beyond.
So, yep, we’re getting a good look at the entire cast too.
The 16 character visuals were released on iQIYI’s Weibo account along with a message that gives hints about the atmosphere of the drama:

But every wheat field keeps a silent count,
Until palms receive the signed waves of golden grain from fall.”Yang Mi, Ou Hao, Ni Da Hong, Qin Hai Lu, Xing Fei, Zhang Tian Yang, Lin Yong Jian, Lan Ying Ying, Patrick Zhang, Zhao Da, Chi Peng, Sun Shao Long, Song Jia Teng, Pan Zhi Lin, Ai Dong, and Yu Zhen

Production details for This Thriving Land
So far, This Thriving Land has not received much promotion from iQIYI, or much information released about its production details or release information.
We do know it features a quite involved and patriotic Chinese plot, however:
On the day of her wedding, Ning Xiuxiu (played by Yang Mi), the daughter of the wealthiest man in Tianniu Temple Village, is kidnapped by bandits. Her father, Ning Xuexiang (played by Ni Da Hong), refuses to sell land to ransom her and instead marries her younger sister, Ning Susu (played by Xing Fei), to her childhood sweetheart, Fei Wen Dian (played by Zhang Tian Yang).
Heartbroken and resolute, Xiuxiu severs ties with her father and marries the peasant farmer Feng Da Jiao (played by Oho Ou), who rescued her from the bandits. Learning to work the land, she gradually comes to understand its significance to farmers.
Inspired by the revolutionary ideals of Du Chun Lin and others, she uses her knowledge to help her neighbors and leads the village women in breaking free from the shackles of feudal thinking.
Together with her fellow villagers, she fights bandits, resists the Japanese invasion, and supports the army.
In other words, if you enjoy a Chinese drama with a strong female lead, a pro-China message, and a whole lot of struggle that creates success, This Thriving Land might be one to check out.
As of now, we know the Cdrama is 36 episodes, so there’s a whole lot of meat in its plot, and that it’s airing on both CCTV and iQIYI in China.
The drama was directed by Liu Jia Cheng who directed both Wings of the Nation and Unbending Will.
Both dramas also have a pro-patriotic stance that I personally quite enjoy (nothing wrong with being proud of your country and its achievements, eh?).
This Thriving Land was written by Wang He (Sunshine Police).
