The popular manga is written and illustrated by Susumu Maeya, and follows England-based maid-in-training Suzume Tachibana, who is stuck in Japan for a year, and decides to use that time to try as much Japanese food as she possibly can.

The anime was announced on the manga’s X account with a teaser trailer, and a very cute key visual of Suzume enjoying a delicious looking anko-filled taiyaki as she sits underneath the sakura blossoms.

Voice actress Kana Ichinose (Fern in Frieren) has been cast as Suzume, and you can hear her (well, kind of) in the anime’s teaser trailer, which shows Suzume getting her new Japanese room clean enough to live in, and then heading out to start trying the country’s tasty food.

They describe its plot in this way:

What’s a maid to do when she finds herself suddenly stuck in Japan for a year? Eat, of course! Follow maid-in-training Suzume Tachibana as she tries all sorts of Japanese food, from sweets like taiyaki and melon bread to savory snacks like takoyaki and onigiri!

Be warned, though—while Suzume sates her appetite through delicious treat after delicious treat, she might just end up whetting yours!

The anime’s main staff has also been named, with Ryousuke Senbo (Youkai Watch!) directing the series, and with both Natsuko Takahashi (My Love Story!!) and Saeka Fujimoto (Alice or Alice) in charge of series composition.

Chiaki Abe (episode animation director of Undead Girl Murder Farce) is designing the anime’s characters.

As for animation, that is being carried out by both EMT Squared (Train to the End of the World) and Magic Bus (Youkai Watch!)

No word yet on when The Food Diary of Miss Maid anime series will premiere, but we will keep you updated here at Leo Sigh.
