The Chinese drama is adapted from the novel 唐朝诡事录 (aka Strange Legend of Tang Dynasty) written by 魏风华 (Wei Feng Hua).
PLOT
In the year 712 AD, Emperor Ruizong of Tang change the reign era to Yanhe. The Tang Dynasty remaina prosperous and influential across the world, yet beneath the flourishing surface lurka numerous crises, as if a storm is brewing.
Various forces seize the opportunity to stir unrest, leading to a surge of mysterious cases among the people.
Lu Ling Feng (played by Yang Xu Wen), the Deputy Minister of the Court of Judicial Review, and Su Wu Ming (played by Yang Zhi Gang), an official of the Qianlin Mausoleum, are demoted and sent away from Chang’an to Yunding County.
Their journey westward is fraught with uncertainties, but they eventually team up with three others.
And now, the team of five join forces to unravel eight perplexing cases: The Demon Subduing Ritual, The Coroner’s Death, The Snowstorm at Mo’s Inn, The Thousand Crossings, The Sky-Piercing Rhino, The Yunding Drunkard, The Letter from Shangxian Alley, and The Patron.
