The FahFah YouTube channel is currently my favorite Thailand-based vlog
I discovered Thai model and YouTube content creator Fah Chatchaya Suthisuwan, and her YouTube channel FahFah, on a Reddit post asking for recommendations on Thailand-based YouTubers.
The person asking for help wanted to know if there were any good YouTubers uploading videos about “Thai culture, customs, everyday life, food, shopping etc”.
Someone recommended FahFah, I checked the channel out, and I have been addicted ever since.
What I love about Fah Chatchaya Suthisuwan and her Fah Fah channel
I lived in Bangkok, Thailand for 14 years — from 2002 to 2016. Three years after I left, Thailand is still ‘home’ to me, and it always will be.
Now, I love Thailand for all the usual things — the food, the weather, the culture, Buddhism, the shopping, the relaxed environment, and the thousands of cool things to do and places to see.
But what captivated me about Thailand, and what has always made me adore the country more than anywhere else, are the Thais.
Happy, smiling, friendly, welcoming, hilariously funny, incredibly kind and all-around some of the nicest people I have ever come across.
In fact, I doubt you could find nicer, cooler, friendlier people than the Thais, no matter where you travel around the world.
In my 14 years there, though, I especially loved Thai girls and women (and no, I’m not male, and no, I’m not gay 🙂 ).
I loved Thai women because they are just so perfectly dressed, immaculately put together and so incredibly beautiful. So much so, you notice quite quickly when you leave Thailand that women in most other countries simply are…not.
I loved to see what Thai women wore when I took the BTS skytrain to work in a morning, and I loved to watch them shop and to see how they could put together a stunning outfit for little more than 300 baht ($10).
I also enjoyed hanging out with Thai female friends, as they laugh all the time, they love to have fun, they adore food, they are proud of and enjoy showing off their country to anyone that is interested, and you never have a bad experience going out to a movie or dinner with a group of Thai girls.
All of these reasons, and more, are why I love watching Fah Chatchaya Suthisuwan’s Fah Fah YouTube channel.
Because she is so quintessentially ‘Thai’.
Absolutely gorgeous, perfectly dressed, and beautifully made-up and coiffed, no matter where she is going, Fah is also sweet, funny and kind and, of course, immensely polite.
She is also very intelligent — something you might not think at first when you see how adorably cute she is (you know — the stereotype of ‘cute girl, so she can’t possibly be smart too‘, but Fah most definitely is that), extremely professional and highly motivated to be a success.
And, for the cherry on the cake, Fah’s videos are all in Thai, but she subtitles them in perfect English. That means you learn about Thai culture, you get a cool Thai lesson, and you still understand everything she is talking about.
Fah is also brilliant at showing off ‘Her Bangkok’, with her beautifully filmed and narrated videos of things like the best place to eat ‘The Softest Braised Duck‘, or why a bowl of ‘500 Baht ($16) Fish Porridge‘ is worth every baht.
She even promotes local Bangkok independent businesses while she does that.
Fah takes trips too. To places like Singapore, Japan, the Maldives, Hua Hin, Ubon, Pattaya and Khao Kho, and then produces informative and gorgeously filmed travel vlogs about them when she gets back.
So, yes, I am currently addicted to Fah Chatchaya Suthisuwan’s FahFah YouTube channel, because every one of her videos is a delight to watch.
And she seems like the loveliest person.
Which is why, last week, I contacted Fah by email, and asked her if I could have a mini interview. As I expected, she responded right away with what seems to be her usual upbeat and positive personality, and immediately said, “Of course”.
So here are just a few of the things I have learned about Fah, and her FahFah YouTube channel, so far (and hahaha, isn’t that last sentence a tongue twister 🙂 ).
A mini interview with Fah Chatchaya Suthisuwan
Are you from Bangkok or from somewhere else in Thailand?
I am from Ubon Ratchathani.
How did you learn English? Did you go to an international school? Did you study abroad? Your English is so good!
I started modelling at the age of 19. It all began with a photoshoot and it just went on from there. My job really varies. There are portrait shoots which I do, sometimes event modelling, for example Bangkok Motor Show, magazine shoots, brand/product presenter and the list goes on
Why did you decide to start a YouTube channel?
I don’t really know where to begin, and how to put it in words. This might take a while, haha! So please bear with me, I’ll try to keep it short.
So back then, I watched a lot of YouTube and I came across a few videos which I found very interesting. People sharing their daily lifestyle, travel adventures and food experiences.
I already had an Instagram account, and on that platform I do get a lot of questions on a daily basis regarding things like, what I’m eating, where was I travelling to etc, so it came to me, why not start a YouTube channel of my own?
Also because I felt like there is only so much I could share on Instagram, a YouTube channel would be better. At the same time, I thought to myself, creating this channel wouldn’t be too bad because I could use it as a diary which I could look back on whenever I wanted to.
Another reason is that, I felt with this channel of mine, I can use it to a good cause.
I remembered times when I looked up YouTube for information like honest reviews, how to videos, travel advice, food and etc. So with that in mind, I wanted to do the same and share my knowledge and experience, even the exposure I get by travelling because even till this day, not everyone has the chance to travel.
I thought of creating food videos because I wanted to do it for others as well, for example, sometimes certain food stalls in Thailand do not have the marketing budget, so I would like to use this channel and help them out.
There were just so many reasons!
In terms of the channel’s direction, there were many reasons to it. It’s really hard to explain. Let’s just say back then, I teamed up with the wrong group of people and our vision and goals weren’t the same.
As for the latest change, honestly, it is what I wanted to do from the very beginning. And do I think it fits me better? Yes, of course! I feel much happier taking this direction as it is exactly what I wanted to do from the start! 😁
I really enjoy doing Youtube so I would like to take this channel even further! Challenge and improve myself in terms of creating better quality videos. Expand the team, get more equipment, get more help in production and editing, especially the translation part! (this takes up a lot of time, haha!) I would also like to start a few more segments which I have in mind, so stay tuned
At the moment, the team is still very small and there are a lot of constraints, like working and having to save up to support this YouTube channel, making time away from work to create videos etc. The end goal is of course to hopefully be able to do YouTube full time, and maybe start a digital media firm.
1. I can’t swim.
2. I am only left handed with 2 things, when using chopsticks and writing.
3. I dropped out from my Master Degree Program.
1. To get to know me better.
2. I keep things real.
3. Gives me an opportunity to put a smile on your face.
