New A Condition Called Love trailer has Hotaru pushing Hananoi away
One of the cutest manga series I have come across in several years is Megumi Morino’s A Condition Called Love, as it follows high school student Hotaru Hinase and her confusion about love.
What is love? What does it feel like? Does everyone fall in love? Will she? Or will she just continue her happy life with her family and friends?
Hotaru has all these feelings about love, but doesn’t really think she ever wants to be in love. Until a boy in another class suddenly appears before her, and tells her he likes her.
That boy is Saki Hananoi, and he is the hot boy in school everyone admires.
But, when she turns him down, unfortunately (or fortunately?) for Hotaru, Hananoi refuses to give up.
A Condition Called Love now has an anime adaptation on its way, with a new trailer released today featuring the beginnings of that love story.

That latest A Condition Called Love trailer does a lovely job choosing scenes from the anime that showcase Hotaru’s confusion about love as Hananoi asks her out, only to get turned down.
The day after, however, he arrives in front of Hotaru again saying “I think I should try my best to help you get to know me first, before I give up”.
In other words, if you want a quick rundown of how Hotaru and Hananoi’s love story began, the anime’s new trailer nicely sums it up for you in just over a minute.
If you’d like a quick listen to the A Condition Called Love opening theme song, Sexy Zone’s ‘Kimi no Sei‘ (aka It’s Your Fault), you get that too.
A Condition Called Love cast and staff
The upcoming rom-com anime (known as Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai in Japan) is being directed by Tomoe Makino (Aharen-san wa Hakarenai and Kotaro Lives Alone), with Hitomi Amamiya (Chillin’ in My 30s after Getting Fired from the Demon King’s Army) in charge of series composition, and Akiko Satou (Trigun Stampede) designing the incredibly cute characters.
East Fish Studio (Fragtime) is in charge of anime production.
As for the anime’s cast,  Kana Hanazawa (Akane Tsunemori in Psycho Pass) voices Hotaru, with Chiaki Kobayashi (Stark in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) as Hananoi.
The A Condition Called Love plot
The English version of the manga the anime series is based on is currently being published by Kodansha USA, with 13 of the now-completed 14-volume Japanese series already out.
Kodansha explains the plot like this:
Hotaru is a 16-year-old high school first-year who has always been ambivalent about love, preferring instead to have a lively life with her family and friends. So when she sees her schoolmate, Hananoi-kun, sitting in the snow after a messy, public breakup, she thinks nothing of offering to share her umbrella.
But when he asks her out in the middle of her classroom the next day, she can’t help but feel that her life is about to change in a big way…
The first episode of A Condition Called Love premieres on April 4th, but you must watch the new trailer before then.
After all, it not only shows what it sometimes feels like for a young girl experiencing love for the opposite sex for the first time, it shows it is possible to be a high school boy that, while persistent, still treats the girl he likes with enormous respect.
