Now this is something I can completely get behind.
The announcement of a confirmed Aharen-san wa Hakarenai, Season 2 more than two years after the final episode of its first season aired.
That romantic comedy anime series is one of the funniest to be released in years, and with some of the most unique and craziest characters (remember Raidou and Aharen’s rap scene!)
Now we have a confirmed Aharen-san wa Hakarenai, Season 2 and I couldn’t be happier.
Along with the announcement, a trailer has been released showing Raidou and Aharen-san as Raidou comments that they are now second-year students and are still, thankfully, sitting next to each other in class.
He then wonders what the other students in their new class are like, but vows to protect Aharen-san anyway.
Along with the Aharen-san wa Hakarenai, Season 2 trailer, we also got a cute key visual featuring Raido carrying Aharen-san, while both indicate “Season 2” with their hands.
The anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Asato Mizu. It has 17 volumes out as of August, 2023, when the series officially ended.
It, sadly and crazily, has not yet received an English translation. (Official Japanese website here)
My Anime List describes its very funny plot like this:
Reina Aharen, a small and cute student with a quiet voice, is quite bad at determining distance and personal space. Sometimes she’s inches away from your face, and at other times, miles too far!
The only one who tries to understand her antics is Raidou Matsuboshi, who is seated beside her in class. He has a menacing face, but in reality, he is a kind boy with an imagination that can run wild at times.
Aharen-san wa Hakarenai follows the peculiar pair as their odd friendship starts to blossom when Raidou picks up Aharen’s eraser for her.
She misinterprets his gesture and now believes them to be best friends, showing how the simplest of things can prove to be the most complicated of challenges for them.
The first season of its anime adaptation was directed by Yasutaka Yamamoto and Tomoe Makino, with Takawo Yoshioka in charge of series composition, and Yuko Yahiro designing the characters.
FelixFilm adapted the manga.
There is no word yet on when Aharen-san, Season 2 will premiere, but we will let you know when that information is released.
Meanwhile, the first season is still streaming on Crunchyroll.
Watch the first Aharen-san wa Hakarenai, Season 2 trailer below. As usual, it looks hilarious.
