April Showers Bring May Flowers creditless ending animation illustrates Tabata and Ueno’s love story perfectly
The utterly sweet school-themed rom-com April Showers Bring May Flowers premiered last week, with Episode 2 dropping yesterday at the same time as its very cute creditless ending animation.
An ending animation that, in just a few pretty frames, tells the love story of handsome and popular high school boy Yousuke Ueno and chubby, plain and unpopular classmate Hana Tabata.
A girl who believes, unlike those girls in the shojo manga she loves to read, she will never have a boyfriend, let alone find true love.
Then along comes Yousuke Ueno, one of her classmates and, while first noticing Tabata because she’s the one who puts fresh flowers in the classroom every morning, soon finds himself drawn to her for other reasons.
The April Showers Bring May Flowers creditless ending animation also features the anime’s upbeat ED — “Souvenir‘ by Japanese indie band GLASGOW.
As for the anime, I think it’s either one of those you will love or hate, as protagonist Tabata isn’t like your typical cute anime girls.
Instead, she’s awkward, very loud-speaking (in her head at least, but deathly quiet to people in her class), constantly clumsy and someone who constantly puts herself down.
Personally, I am enjoy the anime so far because, as rom-com anime goes, this one offers a really love art style and characters who aren’t what we normally get in a school-themed anime. (Hilariously clueless parents, and no bitchy girls making Tabata’s life a misery — yet!)
Production details for April Showers Bring May Flowers
The ongoing rom-com is directed by Mirai Minato (Sasaki and Peeps), who is also responsible for its series composition.
Character designs are by Miwa Ooshima (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!), and with animation from SILVER LINK (Non Non Biyori).
Sadly, April Showers Bring May Flowers has not received licensing outside Japan, except on Bilibili so, for most of us, we are stuck on the high seas with this one.
A real shame as, like I said, this one is quite a bit different than the norm.
