Chen Xingxu and Lu Yuxiao’s Ya Xi’ wraps filming – cute cast photos and 2 smoldering hot posters drop

After following the goings-on of the Chinese drama since it began filming earlier in the year (I’m a big Chen Xing Xu fan, what can I say!), I am happy to report the drama Ya Xi has officially wrapped filming today!

Filming originally began on February 24th, so it has had quite a long filming schedule.

The end of that filming was announced via the iQIYI Weibo account today, along with two beautifully romantic posters loaded with smoldering tension (see below), as well as various photographs from the C-drama’s wrap ceremony.

All of the photographs show the cast looking relaxed and happy, as if they are extremely pleased with what they have just achieved.

Ya Xi production details

The Chinese urban romance drama is based on the web novel of the same name (轧戏) written by Zu Le (祖乐), and is directed by Mao De Shu.

Considering he directed both the sweet and touching slice-of-life drama Lovely Us, and the utterly heart-warming When I Fly Towards You, if Ya Xi turns out to be as satisfying as either of those, I have a feeling this one could just be a hit.

Ya Xi stars Chen Xing Xu (My Boss) and Lu Yu Xiao (Blossoms in Adversity) as the main leads, with Li Ting Ting (Don’t Leave After School), and Ren You Lun (Endless Protection) in supporting roles, and Dai Xu (Men in Love) listed as a guest star.

The drama’s quite unusual plot goes something like this:

Xiao Zhiyu, and Hu Xiu, first encounter each other during a murder mystery game.

Set in a Republic of China-themed scenario, they assume fake identities and act out fictional plots, yet both grow curious about each other’s real-life persona.

Then, in real life, Xiao Zhiyu and Hu Xiu also meet as if destined by fate.

From there, the story unfolds in dual narratives—one following the fictional plot of the murder mystery game, the other depicting their real-life encounters.

Amidst the interplay of illusion and reality, the pair soon come to understand their true feelings. Now will they find their way to each other, and end up happily ever after?

Considering that sounds like a convoluted plot, I am guessing Ya Xi will either be brilliantly pulled off or be one gigantic mess.

Knowing Mao De Shu’s directing skills quite well, I have a feeling it will not be the latter.

Unfortunately, considering filming has just ended, and post-production will now kick off, I highly doubt it will be this year before we are able to find out.

We’ll let you know, though, as more information about the upcoming C-drama is released.

Until then, enjoy the two smoldering hot posters that just dropped as, yep, pretty romantic, eh?
