Dear Hyeri Ep 12 ends K-drama’s run with 4th highest rating of the series

Viewers of the Korean drama Dear Hyeri probably know the series took a big hit in the ratings after the events of Episode 10 (I won’t spoil the plot for you, just watch the series).

So much so, Dear Hyeri, Episode 11 dropped from Episode 10’s all-time high audience share of 3.58 percent to Episode 11’s viewership of 2.70 percent.

Last night, however, Dear Hyeri, Episode 12 aired, both ending the K-drama’s run and grabbing the series’ 4th highest rating.

Thus recouping some of the viewers Episode 10 caused it to lose.

Dear Hyeri, Episode 12 ratings

That nationwide rating for Dear Hyeri, Episode 12 was 3.34 percent — which was up from Episode 11’s 2.70 percent.

It was also a rating that contributed to the 12-episode series earning a nationwide average of 2.88 percent throughout its run.

The K-drama performed better with Seoul viewers, earning 3.95 percent last night — up from Episode 11’s 3.05 percent — thus earning Dear Hyeri an average rating per episode of 3.23 percent.

Personally, I am happy to see this extremely well-acted K-drama earn higher ratings for its close, as it is a poke in the eye for the people who insisted on calling it “toxic” (an overused word that has lost any meaning as it generally now just means “something I don’t like”) because the plot didn’t fit into their usual “unicorn and fairies” wants and needs.

No, it wasn’t perfectly written, there were definitely weaknesses in the scripts and, no, not every event in it was to my personal liking.

But it was a realistic portrayal of the way actual people often behave in relationships. Especially if they are not always healthy ones.

All 12 episodes of Dear Hyeri are now streaming on Viki. I recommend it if you want something different than the usual romance drama with episodes you can predict before they even start.
