Delicious in Dungeon trailer shows off tasty treats and monster showdowns to come

New Delicious in Dungeon trailer a gourmet’s delight

With Netflix getting into both Japanese anime and Korean drama in a big way in the next few years, it is no surprise the highly-anticipated anime series Delicious in Dungeon will be streaming on the world’s biggest entertainment platform early next year.

Nor that it is getting more than one season.

Today, that anime got its first full-length trailer, and a Delicious in Dungeon trailer that proves just how tasty the upcoming comedy fantasy and, yes, gourmet anime series is likely to be, as well as what cool monster showdowns we can soon expect.

Bump of Chicken’s ‘Sleep Walking Orchestra‘ opening theme gets a plug

The new Delicious in Dungeon trailer also features a snippet of the anime’s opening theme song.

That song is Bump of Chicken’s ‘Sleep Walking Orchestra‘, which sounds like one of the Japanese alternative rock band’s bangers, with yet more superb Bump of Chicken signature vocals from lead singer Motoo Fujiwara.

New Delicious in Dungeon artwork from Ryōko Kui released

Along with the official trailer, we also got a very cute celebratory piece of artwork from Delicious in Dungeon manga artist Ryōko Kui (see above) via the anime’s Twitter account.

The art piece features Laois explaining to Marcille, Senshi, and Chilchuck one of his amazing cooking tips to make the next anticipated monster more than just a bit tasty.

What you need to know about Delicious in Dungeon and where to buy the manga

Delicious in Dungeon (aka Dungeon Meshi in Japan) is being directed by Yoshihiro Miyajima (SSSS.Dynazenon Movie), with Kimiko Ueno (Eternal Boys) in charge of series composition, and Naoki Takeda (Chief Animation Director of BNA: Brand New Animal) designing the characters based on Ryōko Kui’s original designs.

The anime is based on the original manga series written and illustrated by Ryōko Kui.

Yen Press is currently publishing the manga in English with 12 volumes out so far, along with the Delicious in Dungeon World Guide: The Adventurer’s Bible with dungeon secrets never before told, and a plethora of gorgeous monster illustrations.

The publisher explains the Delicious in Dungeon plot like this:

When young adventurer Laios and his company are attacked and soundly thrashed by a dragon deep in a dungeon, the party loses all its money and provisions…and a member! They’re eager to go back and save her, but there is just one problem: If they set out with no food or coin to speak of, they’re sure to starve on the way!

But Laios comes up with a brilliant idea: “Let’s eat the monsters!” Slimes, basilisks, and even dragons…none are safe from the appetites of these dungeon-crawling gourmands!

Watch the new Delicious in Dungeon trailer below, enjoy the cute new illustration, and keep an eye out for the anime premiering on Netflix some time in January, 2024.

The anime will get two consecutive seasons on the streaming platform.
