After a short hiatus since May, the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga will begin publishing again next month.

The end of the Frieren hiatus was announced on the manga’s official X account earlier today, with the simple statement “the latest chapter will be published next week”.

That means Frieren will be back in the next issue of the Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine on August 7th in Japan after having been on hiatus for much of the last three months.

The Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga is written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe.

It began publication in April, 2020, has since been released in 13 tankobon volumes in Japan, and has sold an astounding 7 million in just two months .

VIZ Media is currently publishing the manga in English with 10 volumes already out, and Volume 11 on pre-order and due to publish on September 10th.

An anime adaptation of the manga series was produced by Madhouse and directed by Keiichirō Saitō (Bocchi the Rock!), with scripts by Tomohiro Suzuki (One Punch Man), and character designs from Reiko Nagasawa (Takt Op. Destiny), who was also chief animation director.

The anime ran from September 29th, 2023 to March 22nd, 2024.

It has since become the #1 anime on My Anime List, knocking Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood off its perch with a very high rating of 9.34 out of 10 via over 826,000 viewers.
