Chinese animation studio BYMENT has been uploading a slew of new posters to its Weibo account this week to celebrate the final cour of Season 5 of their fantasy martial arts donghua Xi Xing Ji (aka The Westward).
The first three episodes of that cour — Episodes 46, 47 and 48 — were released on Friday, November 1st via WeTV with new episodes then due to come out every Friday from now on via Tencent Video in China, and WeTV internationally, until the hit donghua ends.
The martial arts-themed donghua has been airing/streaming since its first season premiered back in July, 2018 and, since then, has earned a loyal fan base who love its superb animation, gorgeous character designs and backgrounds.
Now, with the final episodes of The Westward, Season 5 soon upon us, and the final battle about to begin, it’s time to revisit some of the donghua’s favorite characters in slightly updated designs.
Designs that, as fans of this visually gorgeous show, you will not be surprised to see them vibrant and colorful, and really standing out. (Personally, I currently have the four below as laptop wallpapers).
Yep, from the look of those, we can probably expect Wu Kong and his disciples to be kicking some major ass quite soon.

Right as the first three episodes of the The Westward, Season 5 final cour premiered on Friday, a trailer was also released that, while looking as epic as everything about this superb series, is also tinged with incredible sadness.
Not only because The Westward donghua is coming to an end, but also due to what Wu Kong and the rest have already gone through.
