Iron Family, A Virtuous Business, Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born all hit highest ratings so far

Sunday, October 13th was a bumper night for the three Korean dramas airing on South Korean TV, as all three grabbed their highest ratings yet.

All, of course, were helped by the fact they were airing in their time slot without another Kdrama on another channel competing with them.

Even so, all saw sizable audience jumps, with Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born garnering the highest increase.

Iron Family, Episode 6 earns big ratings jump

KBS2 drama Iron Family, Episode 6 which stars Kim Jung Hyun, Keum Sae Rok, Choi Tae Joon, and Yang Hye Ji, jumped from Saturday’s nationwide audience share of 14.7 percent to Sunday night’s 16.0 percent.

The Korean drama also saw a similar ratings increase in Seoul, earning a 15.1 percent viewership versus 13.5 percent the night before.

Just like almost every episode since it premiered on September 28th, those ratings also made the popular weekend drama the most-watched show of any kind for the entire week.

A Virtuous Business, Episode 2 sees solid increase in audience share

New JTBC comedy drama A Virtuous Business, Episode 2 also experienced a solid ratings increase, moving from Saturday night’s 3.86 percent to Sunday’s 4.54 percent nationwide.

It fared even better with Seoul audiences, moving from Episode 1’s rating of 3.99 percent to last night’s 4.67 percent.

As I mentioned yesterday, however, although this well-written Kdrama with a stellar cast deserves a much bigger audience, I have a feeling where it will really shine is with international audiences on Netflix.

A Virtuous Business premiered on that platform on Saturday and, when the Netflix Top 10 Non-English TV Shows data is released tomorrow (Tuesday), I have a feeling it will be placed high up on that chart.

Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born, Episode 2 ratings almost double

The big winner on Sunday night as far as increase in ratings, however, was tvN drama Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born, which almost doubled its ratings for Episode 2.

That nationwide rating for Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born, Episode 2 jumped from Episode 1’s 4.84 percent to last night’s 8.91 percent.

Seoul audiences arrived in even bigger numbers, catapulting Episode 2 from its Saturday night rating of 5.67 percent to Sunday’s 8.91 percent.

The almost-all female cast probably has a lot to do with the show’s popularity, as it features big hitters like Kim Tae Ri, Shin Ye Eun, Ra Mi Ran, Jung Eun Chae and Kim Yoon Hye.

The next episode’s of all three dramas will air next Saturday, October 19th. Let’s see how well they all fare then, eh?
