Iron Family Ep 21 earns lowest rating ever – blame Yoon Suk Yeol
The ongoing KBS2 weekend drama Iron Family, Episode 21 was back down to its lowest rating ever last night (Saturday, December 7th, 2024), but don’t blame the Korean drama.
Instead, blame South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol who thrust the country into turmoil earlier this week when he suddenly decided to declare martial law, had that martial law almost immediately overturned by lawmakers, and then survived an impeachment vote yesterday.
I mean, come on, if you lived in a country with so much going on politically, chances are you probably would be glued to the TV watching the news, rather than your favorite weekend drama, right?
That is also why Iron Family and Love Your Enemy were the only two Korean dramas that aired last night, as The Fiery Priest 2 on SBS, When the Phone Rings on MBC, The Tale of Lady Ok on JTBC and Marry YOU on Channel A were all postponed to a future date due to the ongoing national situation.
Love Your Enemy, however, grabbed its highest Saturday ratings of its run so far.
Iron Family, Episode 21 lowest ratings yet
As for those lowest ever ratings for Iron Family, Episode 21, the Korean drama fell in the ratings last night back down to the exact same national ratings it received for its first episode back on September 28th.
That nationwide rating was 14.1 percent — and, yep, still a very high rating — but a substantial drop from last Saturday’s 16.2 percent.
It did, however, still keep Iron Family in the top spot as the #1 most-watched show of the day. So there’s that.
Meanwhile, Iron Family, Episode 21’s ratings in Seoul also fell — from last Saturday’s 14.7 percent to last night’s 13.4 percent.
Let’s see if the K-drama’s audience share jumps back up tonight, eh?
