With just two more episodes left to air, K-drama Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born, Episode 10 earned all-time high ratings last night in South Korea.
In fact, heading into its final weekend, Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born, Episode 10 grabbed 14.05 percent of the nationwide viewership, which is a big increase from its previous episode’s rating of 11.99 percent.
The tvN drama did even better with audiences in Seoul, where it earned 14.31 percent of the viewership — up from 12.73 percent for Episode 9.
Now, as it heads into its final weekend, it appears very likely it will hit even higher heights for its final two episodes.
Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born also performing well in Asia
The Korean musical period drama is also performing well on Disney+ in Asia.
In that region, it is still in the Top 5 most-watched TV shows in four countries — Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea — and at #6 in Japan.
Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born‘s stellar cast has had a lot to do with its huge success. Well, that and its superbly written scripts.
Although, some fans are saying the Korean drama should have had the full 16 episodes, rather than 12, as due to it being a shortened series, that has resulted in too rushed of a plot. (And, yes, at least 14 episodes would have been preferable, in my opinion).
That cast, by the way, is Kim Tae Ri, Shin Ye Eun, Ra Mi Ran, Jung Eun Chae and Kim Yoon Hye. All of whom have done an amazing job in challenging roles.
The final two episodes of Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born on tvN and on Disney+ next weekend — November 16th and 17th.
Let’s see how those ratings go then!
