Lai Zhan poster featuring Ju Jing Yi and Zhang Yun Long in an embrace drops for Qixi Festival
A new Lai Zhan poster has been released via Tencent’s Weibo account, featuring the C-drama’s two main leads — Ju Jing Yi and Zhang Yun Long — in an embrace.
It’s one of a couple of promos that have dropped for the Chinese wuxia drama recently, even though it only began filming on June 29th.
Today’s Lai Zhan poster was released specifically because China is celebrating Qixi today, China’s equivalent to much of the rest of the world’s Valentine’s Day, and one celebrated by tens of millions of Chinese.
Several other Chinese dramas have also released posters to celebrate Qixi today.

Production details for Lai Zhan
Lai Zhan also features a supporting cast that includes Xiao Yan, Gu Zi Cheng, Johnny Zhang, Qi Yu Chen, Hai Yi Tian and Ma Xin Rui.
It’s directed by Zhao Yi Long (Love Game in Eastern Fantasy), with a plot that goes like this:
At the dawn of the world, spiritual energy nourishes all things. Humans cultivate immortality, while demons learn to take form. However, because of their unique constitution, the Penglai Tribe can only enhance their own power by seizing the cultivation of others, which leads to their sealing by the immortal sects.
A young beggar named A Dai (played by Ju Jing Yi), who was displaced by the turmoil caused by the Penglai Tribe, joins the Xianling Sect and becomes a disciple of the carefree immortal, Xiao Yi Han (Zhang Yun Long).
Though Xiao Yi Han is an unorthodox teacher, A Dai remains diligent and responsible. During her training in the mountains, she excels, topping the preliminary exams and taming an ancient divine hammer, quickly rising to prominence. As master and disciple resolve their misunderstandings, their bond grows stronger.
Just as everything seems to be improving, Xiao Yi Han betrays the sect. He attempts to break the seal to free his brother, who is trapped in Penglai. Consumed by her deep-seated hatred for the Penglai Tribe, A Dai severs ties with Xiao Yi Han and embarks on a long pursuit to capture him.
Chinese netizens who have visited the set of the Chinese drama have been commenting that the production seems to be extremely high-quality, with beautiful costumes and sets.
As Lai Zhan is still filming, and post-production and then licensing has to be completed, it will likely be the summer of 2026 before it drops.
When it does, however, all the signs suggest it will be a big hit as the drama has already amassed over 2.5 million reservations, with 2 million of those occurring in the last three weeks alone.
