Lord of the Mysteries trailer #3 and Klein Moretti birthday visual released

While it seems like forever since the animated adaptation of the Chinese web novel Lord of the Mysteries (aka Guimi Zhi Zhu or 诡秘之主) was first announced, with the publicity material that’s coming out in quite a flood recently, it appears it won’t be long now until its first episode premieres.

In that vein then, yet more publicity material was released today via the Chinese anime’s official Weibo account.

And this time, we got both a third trailer and a birthday visual — both of which help celebrate protagonist Klein Moretti’s birthday tomorrow — March 4th.

Lord of the Mysteries trailer #3

The new Lord of the Mysteries trailer gives a quick introduction to Klein Moretti — where he came from, what his name was before he transmigrated to his new world, and what that new world is like.

We then see a hint of the dangers he is faced with, his involvement in the Tarot Club, and a glimpse at some of his clubmates.

The trailer ends on a lighter tone (maybe?) as Klein is sitting reading, and hears a knock at the door.  A slightly creepy voice then wishes him “Happy Birthday”.

A message from the donghua’s production committee also commented:

Let’s light the candles on the cake together. Happy Birthday to Tingen Nighthawk Klein!

From the annals of history, a birthday hymn sings for you, may every awakening come with sweet iced tea to enjoy!

Lord of the Mysteries visual

In addition to the trailer, we also got a look at the latest Lord of the Mysteries visual, which shows Klein in a light and bright house, wearing an apron and icing a birthday cake.

Yep, because apparently he has to make his own birthday cake too.

The message that came with the visual simply says:

This photo was shot by Benson, who had just learned photography.

Benson, of course, being Benson Moretti, Klein’s older brother.

Lord of the Mysteries origins

The upcoming supernatural mystery donghua is based on the novel of the same name by Chinese author Cuttlefish that Loves Diving.

It is being animated by BC May Pictures (A Will Eternal), and produced by Tencent Penguin Pictures and China Literature Limited.

Its synopsis goes like this:

With the rising tide of steam power and machinery, who can come close to being a Beyonder? Shrouded in the fog of history and darkness, who or what is the lurking evil that murmurs into our ears?

Waking up to be faced with a string of mysteries, Zhou Mingrui finds himself reincarnated as Klein Moretti in an alternate Victorian era world where he sees a world filled with machinery, cannons, dreadnoughts, airships, difference machines, as well as Potions, Divination, Hexes, Tarot Cards, Sealed Artifacts…

The Light continues to shine but mystery has never gone far.  Follow Klein as he finds himself entangled with the Churches of the world—both orthodox and unorthodox—while he slowly develops newfound powers thanks to the Beyonder potions.

Like the corresponding tarot card, The Fool, which is numbered 0—a number of unlimited potential—this is the legend of “The Fool.”

Check out the Lord of the Mysteries trailer #3 below, and do notice that beautiful art style and superb animation as, yep, with that amazing story and the donghua’s lovely art, this one looks like it may be one of the year’s hits, doesn’t it?

We will keep you updated here on Leo Sigh when its premiere date is released but, as of now, it appears to be some time this summer.
