Miyu Irino named as voice of One Piece’s Sabo – takes over from Toru Furuya

Voice actor Miyu Irino, who is currently voicing Wakamiya in the ongoing fantasy anime Yatagarasu: The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master, has just been named as the new voice of One Piece‘s Sabo.

The announcement came via a post on the anime’s official X account earlier today

Miyu Irino replaces veteran voice actor Toru Furuya, after various scandals in the latter voice actor’s private life caused most studios to cut ties with him earlier in the year.

Irino will first voice Sabo in One Piece, Episode 1116, “Let’s Go Get It! Buggy’s Big Declaration“, which will air on Sunday, August 18th.

Miyu Irino is a long-time voice actor, having begun his acting career voicing Shou in the anime You’re Under Arrest in 1996.

Since then, he has become known for being the voice of Haku in the film Spirited Away, Shoya in A Silent Voice, Yuichiro in Seraph of the End, Kōshi Sugawara in Haikyu!!, Akane in Run with the Wind, and Ritsu in Mob Psycho 100 among many others.

He has also appeared in One Piece previously when he voiced Phoenix Pirate Jiro.

All 21 seasons of One Piece, including the latest, are currently streaming on Netflix, along with many of the anime’s full-length movies.
