Moonlit Reunion’s Mei Zhu Yu (played by Xu Kai) earns 10 million character popularity points
Mei Zhu Yu earns 10 million character popularity points three days after Moonlit Reunion premieres
Now, I have to admit, I am not currently watching Chinese drama Moonlit Reunion.
Not because I don’t want to, but because it isn’t available on WeTV or Viki in my area, and I refuse to pay for a Disney+ subscription (despise that company) alongside all the other subscriptions I already pay for.
But, just from the huge buzz that has been online about Moonlit Reunion and its stars since it premiered on August 18th, both in China and internationally, I am not remotely surprised male lead Mei Zhu Yu, played by Xu Kai, has already earned 10 million character popularity points and climbing.
Moonlit Reunion has already hit 26000 on the Tencent Video heat index
That milestone was announced by Tencent Video earlier today, with a poster of Xu Kai as Mei Zhu Yu and the congratulatory message:
Xu Kai’s Mei Zhu Yu role in “Moonlit Reunion” has surpassed 10 million character popularity points
Plum blossoms bloom, vanquishing evil in the forest; Rain sweeps the night, cleansing dust to seek heaven’s truth.
Congratulations to Xu Kai (@许凯soso) for surpassing 10 million character popularity points on Tencent Video!
The exclusive advanced dynamic skin gift pack for “Mei Zhu Yu” has been unlocked. (For Chinese viewers).
Head to the confession wall in the #Moonlit Reunion# discussion zone to show your love and support—keep the momentum going with continuous shouts-outs, “Guimi” fans, and let Moonlit Reunion skyrocket! 🚀
Xu Kai stars in Moonlit Reunion alongside Tian Xi Wei as Wu Zhen, with drama fans currently watching the series commenting positively about their performances, while also raving about the drama’s CGI and cinematography.
Some are even calling it “one of the most beautiful Chinese dramas of 2025”.
If you’re in China, you can watch the drama on Tencent Video.
If you’re not in the U.S. or Europe, some international viewers can watch Moonlit Reunion on WeTV, while others are stuck watching it on Disney+.
Viki is also supposedly streaming the Chinese drama, although here in the U.S. their website ridiculously comments “Available in 727 days”.
Nah. I’ll have watched it elsewhere before then. Thanks.
