The new MBC historical drama My Dearest, Episode 1 aired in South Korea last night to high ratings.
The first episode of the new MBC drama also earned higher ratings than its predecessor Numbers, which ended its run in the same time slot last week.
According to new numbers from Nielsen Korea, My Dearest, Episode 1 garnered 5.4 percent of the audience share nationwide, which is higher than the 4.7 percent earned by the highest-rated Numbers episode.
In Seoul, My Dearest, Episode 1 saw the same ratings with the drama also earning 5.4 percent of the audience.
What is My Dearest?
My Dearest stars Namkoong Min, Ahn Eun Jin, Lee Hak Joo, Lee Da In, and Kim Yun Woo.
The K-drama tells the story of a romance between a noble woman and a mysterious man set in Joseon during the Qing invasion.
It will air in two parts, with the first 10-episode part running through Septembers 2nd and no word yet on when Part 2 will premiere.
The second episode of the drama airs later on tonight on MBC, and will then air every Friday and Saturday at 21:50 (KST).
Viki is also carrying the series outside South Korea for international viewers.
And, as someone who also watched My Dearest, Episode 1 last night, it is easy to see why the drama is already high rated.
After all, the performances are superb, the cinematography and costumes are gorgeous, and the story is intriguing and interesting.
In other words, one episode in, and I am already hooked.
