New Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex key visual has Kyros and Marie in a difficult situation
A dramatic key visual has been released for the ongoing anime series Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex, as Episode 8 dropped earlier today.
The new Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex key visual features protagonists Kyros and Marie in a situation where it looks like Marie is upset about something and Kyros is there to comfort her.
That situation is likely the real reason why Marie’s sister Anastasia Shaderan died, as we can also see an overturned carriage and her sister’s pink dress at the bottom of the illustration.
The latest visual for the romance anime was released on the Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex official X page, with a comment saying:
Anastasia, Marie’s older sister, who was supposed to have died in an accident. However, the “truth” behind it is—
In line with the broadcast of Episode 8, where the story takes a new turn, the third key visual has been released.
Episode 9, “Chasing Anastasia’s Soul,” will also air on August 29 (Friday).
Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex production details
Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex is based on the light novels written by Tobirano and illustrated by Mai Murasaki.
The series has nine volumes out in Japanese so far, with Seven Seas Entertainment about to start publishing the novels in English in early 2026.
The josei comedy romance anime is directed by Takayuki Kitagawa (Tokyo 7th Sisters: Bokura wa Aozora ni Naru), with series composition and scripts by Kenta Ihara (Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy), and character designs from Akiko Sato (A Condition Called Love).
LandQ Studios (Bem) is animating.
It’s plot goes like this:
Marie has always been an afterthought. Her parents treat her like a servant, and her flawless older sister, Anastasia, is the family’s shining star. Even at Marie’s own birthday party, all eyes are on Anastasia—so much so that no one notices when Marie sneaks away.
But in the quiet of the evening, she has a chance encounter with a captivating man with striking green eyes: Count Kyros. Their brief meeting feels like a dream… until reality comes crashing back. Soon after, a marriage proposal arrives from the count—for Anastasia, of course.
Except… something doesn’t add up. The gown that arrives with the proposal? It’s clearly made for Marie. Could there be a mistake? Or is this the start of an unexpected love story?
As for the anime itself, while the first episode is quite weak plot-wise stick with it as, by Episode 2, it quickly became one of my most looked-forward-to romance anime in a while.
