Production details for Wandance anime series
The anime is being adapted from the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by mangaka Coffee.
It is being both directed and written by Michiya Katou (Kanashiki Debu Neko-chan), with Satoshi Tazaki (Overlord) and Taiki Imamura (Overlord II, III and IV) acting as both character designers and chief animation directors.
Wandance character designs and cast announcements now out
The anime series is being animated by Studios Madhouse (My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999) and Cyclone Graphics (Monogatari Series: Second Season).
Kodanasha, is publishing the English version of the manga, with 13 volumes already out, and describes its plot like this:
Kaboku Kotani is starting high school, and he plans to do what he’s always done: go along with his friends, keep quiet, and not to draw too much attention to himself. After all, it’s hard enough to get by with a stutter like his—why make things worse by standing out from the crowd?
But then he sees another first-year, Hikari Wanda, dancing like no one is watching—or like she doesn’t care who sees her.
It makes Kaboku wonder: Could he reach that same freedom? To find his way to Wanda, he does something he never thought he could: He joins the dance club. After all, every routine begins with a single step, right?
Look out for Wandance premiering in October.
