Noriko Hidaka voices pivotal role of Fengming in The Apothecary Diaries Ep 10

That is why news is out today that veteran Japanese voice actress Noriko Hidaka has been cast to play Fengming, Consort Ah Duo’s head lady-in-waiting.

Her casting was announced today via The Apothecary Diaries official Twitter account, along with an illustration of Fengming alongside a promo photo of a smiling Noriko Hidaka.

Meanwhile, readers of the manga and light novel series will know, while somewhat of a minor character, Fengming still plays a pivotal role in one of the intricate storylines currently unfolding in the latest episodes of The Apothecary Diaries.

A storyline that will also lead to other important developments down the road.

In other words, it is nice that TOHO Animation and the rest of the production committee have chosen Noriko Hidaka to voice the part.

The veteran actress should be able to embody well the fanatical loyalty Fengming shows to Ah Duo, as well as the complications of her character that cause irreversible events to occur.

What characters has Noriko Hidaka voiced in other anime?

Fans who have been watching anime for a long time will be aware of just how many years Hidaka has been an active voice actress (since 1984), and will know some of the many iconic characters she has voiced throughout those decades.

Characters like Satsuki Kusakabe in My Neighbor Totoro, Kikyou in InuYasha, Noriko in Gunbuster, Akane in Ranma 1/2, Kitarou in Gegege no Kitarou, Junko Tange in Wake Up, Girls!, Dominator in Psycho Pass and Eua in Higurashi: When They Cry.

Noriko Hidaka’s most recent roles were as Yuki Tsukumo in Jujutsu Kaisen and Fumizuki Wei in Arknights: Perish in Frost.

The voice actress will join the cast of The Apothecary Diaries for a short time in Episode 10, which airs on Sunday.

The Apothecary Diaries anime is currently heading towards the end of its first cours of a two cours 24-episode season.

The anime is based on the light novel series written by Touko Shino and illustrated by Natsu Hyuuga, and its subsequent manga series illustrated by Nekokurage.
