Queen Mantis Ep 8 ratings see substantial jump for K-drama’s finale – most international ratings very high
Korean police procedural drama Queen Mantis, Episode 8 ended its run on Saturday night on ratings that were more than one full percentage points higher than its Friday viewership.
Yay, eh?!
According to Nielsen Korea data, Queen Mantis, Episode 8 grabbed 7.4 percent of the nationwide audience share last night compared to the 6.3 percent the K-drama earned for Episode 7.
In Seoul, the SBS drama earned an even higher rating, jumping from Friday’s 6.5 percent to Saturday’s 7.9 percent.
In that region, the K-drama’s ratings were also the highest of its entire run, beating out Episode 4’s 7.5 percent on September 13th.
Those ratings also made Queen Mantis the second-most watched show in its time slot. In both regions.
International ratings for Queen Mantis as K-drama ends
Interestingly, the ratings for Queen Mantis have increased quite markedly from users of My Drama List (MDL) with Friday’s rating of 7.8 out of 10 on the site now a solid 8.0 out of 10.
Considering users of My Drama List consistently rate dramas far lower than almost any other site, and that the drama struggled to get out of the 7’s for most of its run, that’s an excellent ending rating indeed.
Meanwhile, on IMDB, the usual trolls seem to be downrating the drama, with over 300 rating it an average of 7.5 out of 10 so far — a quite low rating, even for that site.
Viki users, however, have challenged that site and, after rating Queen Mantis a 9.3 out of 10 for most of its run, almost 900 users of the site have now increased that rating to 9.6 out of 10.
Personally, I think that rating is a little high, but better to be high than artificially low, eh?
Queen Mantis stars Go Hyun Jung and Jang Dong Yoon, and aired on SBS in South Korea every Friday and Saturday evening from September 5th, to September 27th, 2025.
All eight of its episodes are now streaming internationally on Viki, with subtitles in 16 languages.
