If you’re a fan of everything SAND LAND, you will want to download the new visual just released for the anime on its official X account.
The fun visual (see below) features protagonist Beelzebub alongside Muniel looking like all hell is about to break loose, and was released to celebrate the premiere of SAND LAND: The Series premiering on TV in Japan.
The anime will hit NHK General starting on June 28th.
Yep, along with the anime’s streaming release in March, 2024 after a full-length movie hit theaters back in August, 2023, the anime series is now getting a relaunch on regular old Japanese TV.
SAND LAND production details
The anime series first started off as a full-length movie in 2023, which was then re-released as an edited version for the first six episodes of SAND LAND: The Series a year later.
Both were directed by Toshihisa Yokoshima (Cocolors), with screenplay and anime series scripts by Hayashi Mori (Drifting Home), and character designs by Toshiyuki Kanno.
Studios Sunrise, Anima and Kamikaze Douga animated the series and the film.
The film and anime are based on a popular manga series written and illustrated by the late Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball).
Viz Media publishes the manga in English in one volume, both digital and a physical release.
The original Japanese manga describes its plot like this:
In a parched desert world plagued by water scarcity, the demon prince Beelzebub embarks on a journey with a monster Thief and the elderly human sheriff Rao in search of the legendary ‘Phantom Spring’ hidden somewhere in the sands!!
What secrets will they uncover along the way—!?
And, if you are not in Japan, or want to watch the full SAND LAND series before June, you can do that via Hulu.
Now enjoy that cool visual, eh?
