‘Secrets by the Sea’ character visuals released as iQIYI crime thriller celebrates 1 year of wrapping filming
Upcoming Chinese crime thriller Secrets by the Sea (aka 海边的秘密) has dropped a slew of character visuals as the iQIYI crime thriller officially wrapped its filming one year ago today.
Filming began on March 18th, 2024 in Haikou, Hainan province, China, and ended on July 17th of the same year.
Secrets by the Sea is directed by Wang Si Yang.
The 11 new Secrets by the Sea character visuals feature the C-drama’s main and supporting cast.
They were released via iQIYI’s Weibo page this morning with a comment that also re-confirms the cast, who were officially announced back in March, 2024:

As for its plot, it sounds absolutely gripping, if not a pretty disturbing:
Forensic Pathologist Tong Yan and Criminal Investigator Lü Zhu first crossed paths due to a dispute. Amidst their clashes, they gradually began to see each other in a new light, while also uncovering the hidden pain within one another.
A bizarre rape-murder case forces Tong Yan to confront the nightmare that has haunted her for years—the serial killer who murdered her twin sister has reappeared after 24 years… and is now stalking her!
As the two join forces to hunt down the killer, Tong Yan’s twin sister, Shen Shaojie, suddenly resurfaces. The dynamics between the three become like ocean waves—seemingly calm, yet concealing dangerous undercurrents.
When the serial killer from 24 years ago is finally captured, the mastermind behind it all shocks everyone. As the cruel truth surfaces, what choices will Tong Yan and Lü Zhu make?
Chances are, with character visuals now dropping, we are getting close to a Secrets by the Sea premiere.
Especially as the 30-episode Chinese suspense thriller was selected as an iQIYI IP recommended drama earlier this month, and is now officially tagged as a 2025 release on the streaming platform.
