Shangri-La Frontier gets Season 3 – now let’s hope it’s released as fast as the second season, eh?

There is one superb thing about the fantasy action adventure anime Shangri-La Frontier (well, there are many things, but this one is a standout), it doesn’t appear we will ever have to wait long for a new season.

That’s because not only did the second season of Shangri-La Frontier premiere just over six months after its first season ended but, after Season 2 of the anime ended its run earlier today, Shangri-La Frontier, Season 3 has already been confirmed.

Now, considering the Studio C2C-animated series has been one of the best action adventure series out in eons, that makes this news even better, eh?

Along with the Shangri-La Frontier, Season 3 confirmation, while we didn’t get any more information than that the anime is definitely in production, a visual celebrating the new season was also released on the IP’s official X account.

As always, it features protagonist Sunraku front and center and, if it’s even possible, even more naked than he usually is.

Surrounding him are many of the supporting characters we have grown to love over the last couple of years, while the message from the X account reads:

Alone among my suit-wearing comrades… Half-naked with a bow tie.

Please wait a little while until Sanraku and the others return from their detour.

Shangri-La Frontier release information

Based on the popular manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Ryosuke Fuji, the first season of the hit anime premiered on October 1st, 2023 and ran for 25 episodes through March 31st, 2024.

Its second season kicked off on October 13th, 2024 for another 25 episodes, and just ended in Japan today.

Let’s hope then that Season 3 of the well-received and very popular anime series is released in a similar time frame.

What’s the Shangri-La Frontier plot?

And, for those of you who may not have watched the first season (although, why are you reading this if you haven’t, eh?) here’s the Shangri-La Frontier plot (which is unusual as well):

A world slightly in the future, where games that use displays are now classified as retro games.

In this world, there are “shitty games” whose contents have not caught up with the latest VR technology.

One “shitty game hunter,” Rakurou “Sunraku” Hizutome, devotes his passion to clearing such shitty games.

His next challenge, however, is the opposite of a “shitty game,” “Shangri-La Frontier,” a “god game” with a total of 30 million players. The greatest game adventure tale by the greatest shit gamer begins.

Now, keep checking back to Leo Sigh, as we will keep you updated as soon as more information is released about Season 3.
