Sword Rose hits 18 million barrage comments just 2 days after its premiere – celebratory poster drops

The Chinese crime thriller Sword Rose is going gangbusters on Tencent, where it passed 24000 on that platform’s heat index yesterday, and then exceeded 25000 earlier today.

The drama’s protagonist Deng Yan, played by Dilraba Dilmurat, is also the female character in a modern drama to hit 10 million in popularity points the fastest this year.

So, it is probably no surprise then that Sword Rose has also hit 18 million barrage comments just two days after the C-drama premiered on Tencent video.

A celebratory poster featuring the drama’s main leads — Dilraba Dilmurat and Jin Shi Jia — was released earlier today, with a message from Tencent Video that reads:

“Within two days of its premiere, #利剑玫瑰 (Sharp Sword Rose)# surpassed 18 million bullet chat interactions on Tencent Video, setting the record for the fastest modern drama to reach 10 million barrage comments!

The drama itself is performing extremely well in China, where it has been trending almost daily.

Its performance seems to be more subdued with international audiences who, sadly, seem to often be more interested in historical romance and wuxia C-dramas than crime thrillers.
