Tao Hua Jian poster featuring Zhang Jin Yi and Lu Huan Yu released as Chinese micro drama hits iQIYI China
iQIYI has dropped a new poster for Tao Hua Jian (桃花笺 or Peach Blossom Letter) as the new micro drama starring Zhang Jin Yi as Ye Wei Yang and Lu Huan Yu as Gu Ming Yuan premieres today.
The latest Tao Hua Jian poster features the main leads in a mischievous pose as Zhang Jin Yi has a slight smile on her face as she holds her index finger under Lu Huan Yu’s chin.
iQIYI hinted about the Chinese micro drama’s plot:
Micro Drama #Peach Blossom Letter Premieres
Watch how the ‘villainess’ Ye Wei Yang transforms from silent endurance to explosive rebellion, joining forces with the swordsman Gu Ming Yuan to strike down enemies and tear off hypocritical masks, making those who have committed countless evils pay a painful price!
Baidu Baike talks about the C-drama’s plot like this:
Ye Wei Yang, the abandoned daughter of the Ye family, seeks revenge for her mother and forms an alliance with Gu Ming Yuan, who bears a blood feud.
She breaks through the family conspiracy and reveals the truth about her parents’ murder. She finally gains freedom and her true love
At the moment, Tao Hua Jian is not streaming on iQIYI international but, if you speak Mandarin Chinese, you can watch it on iQIYI China.
All 87 episodes are out but, at under 2 minutes per episode, it’s a quick watch.
And yes, the micro drama only finished filming in April this year, and it has already received its distribution license. Par for the course for many Chinese micro dramas, while Chinese full-length dramas unfortunately take much longer to win approval.
From a cursory glance, the production quality of Tao Hua Jian looks excellent but, as I fail to see much appeal in micro dramas, it’s not for me. You might feel otherwise, of course.
