The official X account for the hit anime series The Apothecary Diaries has released an official Tanabata visual along with a cute Tanabata-themed mini-drama trailer for Season 2.
Tanabata, of course, is the Japanese festival that celebrates the annual meeting of the gods Orihime and Hikoboshi, who were separated by the Milky Way while lovers, and are now only allowed to meet once a year for a few hours.
This year, Tanabata falls on July 7th.
The beautiful visual features Maomao and Jinshi dressed for Tanabata as both wear yukata, while Maomao is writing her wish on a small slip of paper ready to hang on a bamboo branch.
The Tanabata-themed The Apothecary Diaries, Season 2 trailer features the voice actors of the pair — Takeo Ootsuka (Jinshi) and Aoi Yuuki (Maomao) — as Jinshi tells Maomao have beautiful she looks in the yukata, and Maomao responding “You look annoyingly good yourself”.
Jinshi ponders her why she cannot ever give him a sincere compliment.
He then tells her he has heard there is a custom whereby people write their wishes on pieces of paper and hang them on bamboo, so he has procured the paper and bamboo to do the same.
“What wish will you write down?”, he asks Maomao.
After deciding it’s not as if wishes actually come true if you direct them at someone, Maomao replies she would like to try every medicine in the world.
Of course, that thought jogs her memory and she pointedly asks him “Jinshi-sama, when am I getting the ox bezoar you promised?”
