A new The Great Cleric trailer has been released for the upcoming fantasy isekai anime, which shows protagonist Luciel in his former life as a salaryman not only being murdered, but also being reincarnated in Galdardia.
A world very similar to Earth but with the addition of magic.
Once reincarnated as a 15-year-old healer, Luciel realizes quickly the only way to be successful in his new world is to level up as fast as he can.
But that will require a lot of hard-work.
Not that that will stop Luciel either, as he has just spent years in his previous life being the hardest working salaryman in Japan.
And he can definitely replicate that characteristic in Galdardia.
What is The Great Cleric?
The upcoming isekai anime series The Great Cleric (aka The Great Cleric: White-Collar Survival in Another World) is based on the light novel series by Broccoli Lion, with illustrations by Sime.
The series has been so successful in Japan, there are currently 10 volumes of the light novel series in publication, as well as 11 volumes of its spin-off manga series, with a 12th volume out later on this week.
J-Novel Club is publishing the light novels in English, with Kodansha publishing the manga series.
They explain the start of The Great Cleric story like this:
After being reincarnated, Luciel sets off on his quest with three silver coins in his pocket, and a desperate need to make more. His first stop is the town of Merratoni, where he’s no sooner in the gate than he’s bowled over by rowdy adventurers.
However, he is rescued by the mysterious and beautiful Lumina, who takes him to the Healer’s Guild to get registered.
But before he can start making money … he’s going to have to learn to heal, first! And training in this world doesn’t come cheap or easy. All Luciel knows is, he’s got a tough road (and a lot of long days) ahead …!
The Great Cleric anime is being directed by Masato Tamagawa (The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt), with Keiichirou Oochi (Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari) in charge of series composition, and Guonian Wang (The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World) designing the characters.
Yokohama Animation Laboratory (Miru Tights) and Cloud Hearts (The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World) are in charge of anime production.
